Students' Achievements
Three students from Vael’s Billabong High International School (Chennai) brought laurels to the school by securing top ranks in the Velammal Science Talent Search examination conducted on January 25th 2009. Suhas Dundigilla (Grade 4) was the topper in the Level 2 examination at the state level. He won a cash prize of Rs.10,000 while Nandhini Shyam Sunder (Grade II) secured the 8th position in the Level 1 examination and won a cash award of Rs.1500. Srinivas R. Sharma (Grade III) secured the 9th position in the Level 2 examination and won a cash prize of Rs.1000.

At the Indian Robotics Olympiad held in New Delhi on 5th and 6th September, 2008, Saumya Nair, Tresh Marwaha and Moksha Marwaha from Billabong High International School, Bhopal, stood first in their category and will now go to Japan for the World Robotics Olympiad.


At the Inter School Swimming Competition at American School in Mumbai, three students from Billabong High International School. Malad, made us proud:
- Atish Pradhan won 5 gold medals in the 50m Freestyle, the 50m Fly, the 50m Breast Stroke, the 50m Back and the 100m Individual Medley.
- Teesta Rawal won a silver medal in the 50m Breast stroke and a bronze medal in the 50m Fly.
- Akhil Vaswani, the youngest swimmer in the competition, came third in the under 12 100m freestyle.
We also won gold medals in the Relays IM and the 100m Freestyle.

Diva Parekh (Grade 4, Billabong High International School, Santacruz) published her own book of poems named My Journey Through the Maze Of Life. It is a compilation of 74 poems based on her day to day experiences.

BHIS, Thane students have participated and secured distinctions in the Trinity College of London Examinations in Speech and Drama & Performing Text. The students are Disha Raicha, Pallav Jain, Ruchira nair, Anushka Mahamunkar, Manali Padale, Samruddhi Pawar and Mithila Bhageria.

BHIS, Kanpur bagged the first position for science, all India (Grade 3) amongst 58 participating schools in the International Benchmark Test conducted by ACER in December’08. The school also stood in prominent ranks amongst other participating schools. The students who achieved this feat are Kavya Kataria, Farzan Mirza, Anushka Mehlotra, Shivi Agarwal, Mohd. Diam, Samedh Gupta, Momin Afzal, Smera Gupta, Zayd Momin Rasool, Siddhi Gupta, Zoya Sajid, Kartikay Gupta, Karan Gupta, Krishna Gupta and Daaniyal Afzal.

A special mention must be made for Seeya Bijlani from Kangaroo Kids Preschool, Pali Hill, Mumbai. She participates in local swimming competitions at gymkhanas and the YMCA club and has received awards and accolades at various occasions. This goes to show that even the little ones at KKEL are not lacking in the participative spirit.

Ishaan Gupta, student of Kanpur Billabong High International School-Grade 4 has been awarded certificate of distinction in Maths, Science and English in the iBT exams. His percentile in Maths is 100 in School, 99 in India, and 99.7 in the world.
