My
mind is always preoccupied with thoughts of how children should
learn and ‘absorb knowledge’
and how to create pioneering ways of ‘transferring
this knowledge’. My fundamental and cherished
dream has been to devise the most innovative learning and
teaching techniques in order to introduce them successfully
in India. My team and I have spent ten years of fighting for
the right of children to a stress-free childhood, and to prove
education can be a joyful path to gaining knowledge. We have
shown that learning can and should be fun. After developing
‘unique and successful learning systems’
for preschool children, Kangaroo Kids Education Ltd. has now
devised learning systems for Primary and High Schools.
Our vision is to be acknowledged as a leading provider of
curriculum frameworks that develop a range of pathways to
life long learning. Our belief is that all children should
have the opportunity to experience the joy of discovery and
develop a love of learning. We are distancing ourselves from
a content-based rote learning system. We do not believe in
creating robots that demonstrate rote memory of course content.
We want to create real learners who have complex, flexible
maps of learning that allow them to change course if necessary.
To do so, learners must learn for meaningfulness. Rote learnt
information is largely stored in the short-term memory and
quickly forgotten. Information that is not integrated and
related to previous experiences is discarded and replaced
with the next piece of information. To us that is a waste
of a child’s youth and learning potential. Most importantly
it is not an enjoyable and engaging learning experience for
children that will motivate them to learn.
Quality Education is the right of all children.
It is easy for a school to ‘look good’
if they selectively choose children from the high-income groups
after assessing for high achievement. Programs for the gifted
and high flyers are simply not democratic. Social justice
can only be achieved by open entry for admission and an education
system that provides a high quality infrastructure to enable
all children to experience the joy and wonder of learning.
Our vision is to create schools and learning environments
that exist and operate programs for all individual learners
allowing them opportunities to reach their potential.
